Royal New Zealand Yacht Squadron and Yachting New Zealand hosted an IU seminar in conjunction with the National Bank International Youth Match Racing 2008 Grade 3 match racing event. The seminar included two days of classroom sessions, January 22-23, and four days of on the water umpiring at the youth event, January 24-27. ISAF thanks both organizations for organizing the seminar.

There were 13 delegates from Australia, Italy and New Zealand. Their efforts and contribution made the seminar a great success. They worked hard in the classroom part and did a great job as umpires in the match racing event. There is a good reason to believe that ISAF will soon have several new IUs as a result of the seminar.

Sara Roberts and other employees and members of RNZYS are owed many tanks for their work which made the seminar possible. Roger Wood (NZL) was chief umpire for the event, and he helped us organize the performance assessments. The instructors were Jack Lloyd (NZL) and Jan Stage (DEN) assisted by Shane Borrell (NZL).
