If you need some inspiration for your Sailing or Yacht Club to help ISAF celebrate, here are a few ideas. If you have any more, please send them in to us and we’ll share them on the ISAF website.
Do make sure you include the ISAF Centenary logo where you can – on your website, emails posters and correspondence such as a Notice of Race. An easy way to spread the word! You can download the logo from www.sailing.org/isaflogos
Make a '2007 Pledge' at your Club to make a difference this year for your local sailing community. You could sponsor a sailor, invite local children to a 'try-sailing' day or have a fundraising event – the list is endless. Send in your photos and stories and we’ll make sure they go on the ISAF website.
Centenary Race. During your racing season, ISAF would be delighted for you to name a race, series of races or a Regatta in the name of our Centenary. It’s also the perfect opportunity for your club to introduce a special trophy with the Centenary logo, either as a one-off, or it could be the start of a new legacy.
Create your own ISAF Centenary Awards. These could be awarded at a club dinner or other event – categories could include anything from the overall regatta winner/s, voluntary contribution, youngest/oldest sailors etc
Host a Centenary charity lunch or dinner from a BBQ to a black tie event. Using the ideas above, this could be a charity event, awards evening or simply a night to celebrate. The perfect date could be 1 September 1, during the Sail the World weekend.
Whatever your plan, it’s a great opportunity for news. See if you can invite along a journalist from your local newspaper or TV station and of course, send us in any stories with photos that we can publish on the ISAF website. Email us at marketing@isaf.co.uk
Thanks for all your contributions!
